Changes are being made to the way that West Mercia Police communicate via our current email alert system.

The new system called the Community Message Service, hosted via the West Mercia Police & Warwickshire Police websites will streamline and improve the timeliness of information to our watch scheme community. Anyone interested can apply and sign up, and being part of a registered Watch scheme is not necessary. Signing up to the new alert scheme will mean you receive timely, localised information of interest, crime prevention advice or warnings of criminal activity.

The exact date the system will go live has yet to be decided. However, all current members of the existing alert system will be contacted in due course. In order to fully test the sign up registration process we are inviting people to sign up in advance of a formal launch date.

We would like to invite those people registered to receive Horse watch messages to sign up for the new service by following the guide detailed below:

Step 1: Register your email – please enter your email in the box shown on screen

Step 2: You will receive an email to the address provided in step 1. Click the link where you will be prompted to enter the unique pin that you will have presented to you via the website.

Step 3: Enter your pin and a strong password so that you can login in the future to your account. It is suggested you use a minimum of 8 characters including at least 1 capital letter and 1 special character such as “?”.

Step 4: Once you have enter and verified your password you will receive a confirmation message and then you can log into your account via the link provided.

Step 5: Once logged in you will then see a new link on the top right of “My Account”. This is where you can add information to the system such as where you live etc within the “Your Details” section.

Step 6: You will need to set up your preferences around which CMS schemes you want to receive message for, which areas (if applicable) and the frequency of messages. This is controlled via the “Email Alert Preferences” section and can be updated and amended by you as and when required.

Step 7: You have now finished the set up process for receiving CMS messages. Once you click “next” you will be taken to the final page which will provide you all of this information for you to check.

**As part of our ongoing commitment to you we will regularly (annually) review our subscribers reminding you via a link to renew your subscriptions for another year. You will be asked to log into the website using your email address and password and from here you can then renew via the screen presented.
